The team

Picture
Pete Dorion
Pete is the multi-tasker in the group, trapper, tracker, sniper or cook it doesn’t make a difference to him he does it all, but nothing can take him away from his annual hunting preparations. Pete just loves to sow his food plots and then watch the deer come and mow it down. Always preparing every hunt months in advance, he knows how to make things happen. Pete has taken twice as many moose over the years as any other member of the team. Bears are no match for his baiting skills and optimal tree stand placement. But even Pete can meet his match and his nemesis comes in the form of a 9 year old bruiser whitetail we call “Le Coq” (French for “the rooster”). This buck has brought Pete to the brink of madness. Giving him small opportunities every year but always managing to slip between his fingers...This buck must have had 9 lives, let’s hope that 2014 will be the year Pete brings that story to an end!

Rachelle Dinelle
Now this girl loves hunting!!! Rachelle met Pete Dorion in high school and found that they both loved the outdoors, it wasn't long before these two became inseparable spending their summer days fishing in a canoe on some remote lake...they never looked back. Luck seemed to shine on Rachelle when it came to whitetail hunting, knocking down mature whitetail bucks year after year became regular business. But for some odd reason moose seem to avoid her. No matter how much effort and time she put in the hunt, things never seemed to come together. It took her 19 years and a lot of team work with her husband Pete to call in her first bull moose. Her perseverance finally paid off and she finally broke her dry spell! With a grin, she told us afterwards "Moose watch out, here I come!!!"  We can't wait to see what adventure Rachelle will have in 2014!!!

Mike Dorion
Mike is the youngest of the three Dorion brothers. He started hunting, like his two older brothers, at the age of 12 and by the age of 16 had already taken many whitetails and bears. Mike is definately an accomplished hunter that loves to explore new hunting grounds and maximise his opportunities during the rut. Moose, bear or whitetails it doesn’t matter they all end up in the freezer once Mike sets his sights on them! When hunting, Mike will more than likely be found in a tree-stand accompanied by his tender half Christine Poirier. These two really enjoy hunting together.

Picture
Christine Poirier
Probably the most unlikely hunter of the team. Christine was a city girl and had never been exposed to the hunting world before she met Mike Dorion, the love of her life. Mike soon introduced her to archery and she instantly fell in love with the serenity it brought her. After taking a few good deer with her bow, she succeeded in taking her first moose.  Christine was the first woman to take a moose with her bow in our team and put an end to any doubts the rest of the team had about the effectiveness of a low poundage bow for moose hunting! She soon after decided to add the riffle season to her repertoire. Now with a mature moose, a few bears and many whitetails, this city girl has graduated to hardcore huntress status!

Mélanie Touchette
When Melanie was a young girl, she saw her dad come back with a deer every fall and knew that one day she would walk in her father’s footsteps. But her mother feared for her daughter’s safety and asked her to stay away from guns and the big woods. She complied until the age of 16 when she met Robert Dorion, a hardcore, outdoorsy guy who spent half of his time in the bush chasing deer and whatever else he could hunt or fish. Together they convinced Melanie’s mother Nicole that hunting was a safe and fun activity. With her mother’s blessing Melanie embarked on series of hunting adventures. Big bucks became her trademark taking many mature and heavy bodied bucks year after year. Melanie and her now husband Robert make a very lethal hunting team, taking Moose, Mulies and Whitetails all over Canada’s great hunting grounds. After a heartbreaking close call in 2012 with a bruiser whitetail we named Badaboom, Melanie is now ready for round two...and she’s not planning on taking any prisoners!

By the way, Mélanie's mother is now one of our teams biggest fan!!!

Picture
Pierre Junior Dorion
Now this young man is crazy about the outdoors!  Following in his parents footsteps, he is quickly learning the tricks of the trades.  On his very first whitetail hunt he showed a great deal of patience and control passing up several young bucks before finally taking a very nice 8 pointer. This only ignited his passion for hunting, making this his first of many more hunting stories to come. He will undoubtedly carry on the hunting heritage that is so deeply rooted in the Dorion family.

Jacob Petit
Since his birth, Jacob has been exposed to hunting. He is a third generation hunter and at the age of 15 (2013), decided he wanted to become a bow hunter. Archery had always fascinated him and he wanted to take his first big game with his bow. Spending time in the great outdoors with his father Michel Petit is what he enjoys the most. He just can’t wait for his younger siblings to join in the fun and help them become polished hunters and huntresses. This season, you will see the joy he felt when he released his arrow on a big game animal for the first time of his life. Every emotion of his hunt were captured on video and will be part of one of the many stories French Connection put together this year. Jacob is on his way to becoming a great hunter.

Julie Migneault
Julie walked into Dan's life in March of 98. Julie was a classy lady always wearing dressed clothes and high heels. She worked for the Canadian Prime Minister. Once she met Daniel in 1998, it did not take her long to show her new love that she could fit perfectly in camo clothing and rubber boots. She had never hunted before. She took all her hunting and firearms courses and started to follow Dan in all his hunting and guiding outdoors adventures. She prefers by far bow hunting than anything else. In 2002, Dan was in his 2nd year of business with his hunting store and decided to move it to a new location. Julie took 2 weeks of holidays to come and help Dan and his employees to set up the new store. After those two weeks of hard labor, Julie decided to quit her job in politics and to join Dan in his retail related adventure.  For the past 16 years, Julie and Daniel have been working together and sharing their passion for hunting.

Chef Daniel Verati
Back in March of 2000 Chef Daniel Verati walked in Daniel Larocque’s hunting store wanting to buy a crossbow to add challenge to his future hunts. The immediate response was if you want the ultimate feeling, you should get a bow. Dan said OK, but I want the same bow and configuration you hunt with since you should obviously have the best being the owner. He was in a rush since he had to grab a flight to China to pick-up one of his two 2 adopted daughters and said he would be back in a month. He paid his bill in full and off he went. One month later he showed up to pick up his bow. Chef Verati became very accurate with his bow within weeks. We knew he would become a great bow hunter. Shortly after, Daniel Larocque offered to guide him on a bear and moose hunt. He took his first archery black bear weighing a 384 pounds field dressed and the following September he got to harvest his first archery bull moose. Over the years, both Daniel Larocque and Chef Verati became great friends. We are no longer making money guiding Chef Verati … BUT we now have the best Chef on the planet to cook for us at camp.

Michel Laflamme
Mike has been a good friend of Daniel Larocque for over 20 years. They met on a fishing trip in northern Quebec. Since then, they worked, hunted and fished together. From Quebec to Ontario or Saskatchewan, Mike is always ready to hunt. He is an expert when it comes to whitetail or wild turkey hunting. Mike acted in a few hunting videos and decided to participate in the TFC adventure by sharing his knowledge as an avid hunter. He is always part of the French Connection annual turkey camp hunt.
